Learn how to support clients with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, persistent fatigue and other long-term physical symptoms using an integrated brain–body approach.
Have you ever worked with a client who experiences persistent physical symptoms, yet medical investigations have not fully explained their condition?
Perhaps their doctor has recommended Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but the client does not have an obvious mental health concern.
How do you help someone whose primary difficulties are physical rather than psychological?
This is where specialised BodyMind Therapy (BMT) training can expand your professional skills.
BodyMind Therapy (BMT) is an integrative therapeutic approach developed to help professionals understand and address the interactions between the brain, nervous system, emotions, behaviour and persistent physical symptoms.
The training combines principles from:
This professional training is suitable for:
You will learn how to recognise factors that may contribute to symptom persistence and how to guide clients through a structured therapeutic process.
The focus is on helping clients reduce symptom-related fear, develop emotional awareness, change unhelpful behavioural patterns and improve their quality of life.
Physical symptoms are real. Understanding the brain–body connection provides additional opportunities for effective therapeutic support.
The training covers six essential areas:
1. Understanding the Brain–Body Connection
Learn how the brain and nervous system process pain and other physical sensations, including central sensitisation, neuroplasticity and the body's stress response.
2. Identifying Symptom-Maintaining Patterns
Recognise how fear, stress, emotional experiences, attention and learned behavioural responses can influence persistent symptoms.
3. Practical BodyMind Therapy Techniques
Learn therapeutic strategies informed by CBT, PRT, EAET and Reverse Therapy, including approaches to reducing symptom-related fear and developing a greater sense of safety.
4. Emotions, Needs and Behavioural Change
Explore emotional awareness, healthy boundaries, unmet needs, self-critical thinking and patterns that may contribute to ongoing stress.
5. Working With Different Client Groups
Understand important considerations when supporting clients with fibromyalgia, chronic pain, functional symptoms, ME/CFS, Long COVID and other persistent physical conditions.
Learn to recognise when medical assessment, pacing or additional specialist support is necessary.
6. The Complete BMT Therapeutic Process
Learn how to structure a BodyMind Therapy programme, from initial assessment and individual case formulation to practical interventions, progress monitoring and long-term self-management.
